Carara National Park Tour

About this tour

Highly recommended for tourists who come to Puntarenas on a cruise ship. The Carara National Park is located only 45 minutes from the Cruise Dock in Puntarenas and 15 minutes from Jaco City.

The Carara National Park is considered to be the line that converges the dry forests and rainforests of Costa Rica, this allows Carara to be the climatological transition point on the Pacific Slope of Costa Rica, thus harboring an impressive mix of flora and fauna.

During this tour you will be able to explore this habitat with a specialized tour guide and observe all the wonders that this habitat conserved.

As well, Carara National Park is one of the best places for bird watching in all of Costa Rica. Here you can observe incredible species, such as the Scarlet Macaw, Yellow Throated Toucan, Turquoise Browed Motmot, Rufous Tailed Jacamar and much more...

The tour guide will pick you up and will take you to the park. Transportation can take between 15 to 45 minutes (depending on the place for the pickup).

Carara National Park has reported approximately 45% of all bird species of Costa Rica.

The name Carara originates from the natives and its meaning is "Crocodile", which refers to one of the largest crocodile populations in the world per square kilometer (at Tarcoles River).

After the tour, the nature tour guide will take you to a local restaurant for enjoying a delicious typical lunch and then we will take you back to your hotel or to the cruise ship area.

This tour is highly recommended for tourists who come on cruises to Puntarenas. For a better appreciation of all the fauna in Carara, we highly recommend combining the Carara National Park tour with the Tarcoles River Boat Tour.
